Beef Bafado


1 Kg Diced Beef

Diced Beef

1 Onion chopped

1 Tomato chopped

1 Potato cut into 1 inch cubes

3 Green Chillies

2 Tbsp Oil

Juice of 1/2 lime

Salt as per taste

Pinch of Sugar

Green Masala:

1 Bunch Fresh Coriander

4 Green Chillies

1 Tbsp Ginger/ Garlic paste

1 Tsp Cumin seeds

1/2 Tsp Black Pepper pwd

1/2 tsp Cloves pwd

1 Tsp Tumeric pwd

1/4 Tsp Cinnamon pwd

Marble size Tamarind

Grind the above ingredients in a mixer with little water to form a thick paste.

Green Masala


Marinate the Beef with Salt, Lime juice and the Green masala (paste) for an hour. Longer the better. Heat Oil in a cooking utensil and saute the Onion and Tomato on medium flame till they turn soft. Now add the marinated Beef, mix well, cover and simmer for around 3 to 4 mins. Add just enough water to form a thick gravy. Cover and cook for 1/2 an hour on medium flame. Open the lid and add the cubed Potatoes, Green Chillies, Vinegar and pinch of Sugar, stir well and cook till the Potatoes and Beef are done. Check for salt and is ready to serve.
